Who Is James Haskell?
James has had an impressive career to-date. He is the youngest debutant player in Wasps Premiership history having made his initial first team appearance aged just 17. He made his debut for England at 21 and is uniquely the only current or past England International ever to have played in all four of the top domestic leagues in World Rugby
He has played in the French Top 14 for Stade Francais. The Aviva Premiership for Wasps. The Japanese Top League for the Ricoh Black Rams, as well as the Super 15 in New Zealand for the Highlanders.
He has been privileged to have played alongside some of the greats of the game such as Lawrence Dallaglio, Simon Shaw, Rob Howley, Matt Dawson, Raphael Ibanez, Craig Dowd and Phil Vickery in the UK. Sergio Paresse, Mauro Bergamisco, Pascal Pape, Dimitri Szarzewski in France. His team mates in Japan and New Zealand include the legendary World Cup winning All Black Centre Ma Nonu as well as All Blacks Jimmy Cowan, Adam Thompson, Andrew Hoare, Ben Smith and Tamati Ellison
Having been invited to speak at the highly prestigious Cambridge Union, James speaking experiences extend from major corporations like Investec to numerous Rugby clubs, as well as many Student Unions.
As a consequence James has now firmly established himself on the circuit. He is also a regular on TV and Cable, appearing in game shows such as A League of their Own, The Chase, Benchmark, Question of Sport as well as across all the sports channels and sports radio shows
As a consequence of his travels and playing experiences, James has a wealth of stories and recollections of his time spent playing both here in the UK and abroad, discovering and experiencing the different customs and cultures both on and off the pitch; appearing au natural in no less than three famous Stade Francais Calendars, including being the front cover in 2009. Not forgetting the infamous two years he shared a house with Ollie Phillips in one of Paris most fashionable districts!
James has played 63 times for full England, as well as England Sevens. He still holds the record for being the most capped player at England under-21 level. He is currently captain of Wasps.
James is both an experienced motivational speaker, as well as a humorous after dinner speaker and raconteur. So whether you are looking for a motivational team talk, a talk on leadership, managing expectation and pressure or just a fascinating insight into World Rugby from someone who has played in every major league; perhaps just a light hearted and amusing recollection of his experiences with some of the truly great characters of the game, then James is your man.
