James Haskell Body Fit Camp Launches.

07th January 2013

James Actrion

James Haskell Body Fit Camp Launches. If you follow me on twitter you may have seen a lot of tweets regarding fitness, nutrition and my blog www.jhfitness-nutrition.blogspot.co.uk and something called James Haskell body fit. The first are self explanatory the latter not so, James Haskell body fit, is a training camp I set up that gives people a hands on introduction to functional fitness training, nutrition, and exercise.

I have teamed up with Richard Tidmarsh from R4reach functional fitness gym in Clapham and created JH body fit. I have found functional fitness training to be the way forward, it simulates Rugby, conditions the full body, develops strength and body toning. It harks back to the days of circuit training. Its one thing to talk about it in a blog, but another to actually do it.

The idea of the James Haskell body fit camp is to explain a little about functional fitness, take all the participants through a session, have a nutritionist come in and give everyone a talk on things that they can implement straight away to their diets to achieve the goals they want. Very few gym goers understand the importance that diet plays. Whether that is a weight gainer, maintainer or weight looser. The whole day was powered by Maximuscle, so everyone that took part received a goodie bag with some maxi treats, and handouts of the session they performed, as well as a future session to do at home or in their local gym.

From start to finish the day went extremely well. I was nervous before hand, but even with a mixed bag of talent, from a long distance lorry driver, to a professional fitness model, everyone bought into the day and worked hard. Even Tom from MSN who normally doesn't train that much if at all, and who resembles an even more disheveled Alan from the hangover, or harsher still fat Jesus, worked really hard and pushed himself. He even felt inspired the next day to try the take away session we gave all the participants, this was our aim, and was echoed in many tweets that followed.

Session Format

There were around 8 stations where everyone would work for 4 mins in partners. With one resting while 1 worked. Rich and I tried to create a fun, challenging session, with all the toys, battle ropes, kettle bells, sand bags and the best but hardest bit of cardio kit, the versa climber. For those of you who don’t know it, (watch rocky 4) we wanted to create something for mix ability that also shows cased the best of functional fitness. From the feedback we got that’s what we achieved.

I didn't take part myself, except on the Versa climber challenge, I can only watch people working hard for so long before I freak out and have to join in. The aim was to make sure that everyone took something away from the day and saw that training, diet are accessible to everyone.

If you are keen to get involved then sign up here, we have camps in January, March, and April.

There are still places on Jan 13th click here to sign uphttp://bit.ly/YVSVBu
